Gail Hasbrouck named chair of American Heart Association's Metro Chicago board

Gail Hasbrouck, senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for Advocate Health Care, has been named chairman of the American Heart Association's Metro Chicago board of directors.

As chairman, Hasbrouck will lead a team of health care professionals and business and community leaders who guide the association's activities throughout the Chicago area. Her two-year term as chairman began on July 1, 2015.

In her role with Advocate Health Care, Hasbrouck is responsible for the direction and management of the legal, claims, compliance, Institutional Review Board and corporate secretary functions of Advocate Health Care.

She is a member of the executive management team consisting of all of the C-level executives in the company. This group advises and supports the CEO in all major decisions. She provides legal advice and counsel to governance and management in order to protect and defend the legal interests of the organization, and to maintain operations within legal parameters.

Hasbrouck focuses on negotiating/facilitating acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures, affiliations, and other business transactions that support the growth of Advocate. She works closely with governance and directs the ongoing legal support of operations.

Hasbrouck is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Law and holds a master's degree from the University of Chicago. Her undergraduate degree is from the University of California at Berkeley.
