St. Charles police looking for missing teen

St. Charles police are seeking information about a 14-year-old girl who went missing after being dropped off for a dance class.

Emily Czajkowski, of Campton Hills, was last seen Wednesday night, shortly after a parent dropped her off at Pottawatomie Community Center, at 8 North Ave., St. Charles. She did not attend her dance class, police said, but a surveillance video showed Emily leaving the building while talking on her cellphone about 6:35 p.m.

Emily was seen walking west on Route 64 after leaving the community center, officials said, and then again between 7 and 8 p.m. in the area of W. Main Street and S. 14th Street.

She was wearing a brightly colored shirt, brightly colored shorts and blue knee-high socks, police said. She was carrying a snow leopard-print bag.

No one has reported having contact with the 14-year-old since her social media post, and her cellphone is either turned off or out of power, officials said.

Bill Tynan, crime prevention officer with the St. Charles Police Department, said police are working with St. Charles Park District security.

"Right now, we're left with keeping our eyes open and searching the area as best as we can," he said. "We're kind of at a crossroads."

Anyone with information about the girl's whereabouts should contact the St. Charles Police Department at (630) 377-4435.
