Loyola Park Ridge Immediate Care Offering Walk-In Sports Physicals

Understanding that life happens quickly, Loyola Medicine Park Ridge Immediate Care is now offering sports physicals on a walk-in basis.

"We're happy to evaluate athletes and complete the necessary forms in time to start practice," said Beatrice Probst, MD, medical director for Loyola's immediate care centers.

The sports physicals will be performed by board-certified physicians at Loyola's Park Ridge Immediate Care from 2 pm to 8 pm, Monday-Friday. The immediate care center is located at 1030 W. Higgins Road, just west of Cumberland Ave.

Most competitive sports leagues require participants to receive a physical that is a general overview of the athlete's health. From young players to college-level competitors, most programs require these physicals to ensure players are safe and healthy.

"If any abnormal findings are discovered at the time of the sports physical, we can refer the athlete to a primary physician or specialist for further evaluation," said Dr. Probst.

Though each program has its own requirements and forms sports physicals usually include a medical history and physical examination. Athletes are asked to bring their program's forms with them at the time of the physical.

There is a $49 upfront fee for the physical that is self-pay.
