Lambs Farm garden has dedication ceremony

Gentle springs bubbled up from the center of rock gardens and beautiful wildflowers swayed in a warm breeze at Thursday's dedication ceremony of the Ed, Olga and JJ Rogan Tribute Garden at Lambs Farm near Libertyville.

The garden was part of an idea spawned by Lambs Farm's 50th anniversary celebration in 2011 to create a quiet, calm place that would serve as a bridge between the public and private places at the campus.

"We wanted to find a way to raise money that would be beneficial to Lambs Farm," said Dianne Yaconetti, president and CEO of Lambs Farm. "But at the same time, to try and build something that would be a meeting place for the people that come as our customers to sit and get to know better the people that live at Lambs Farm."

The garden is designed as a memorial for family and friends, and as a perpetual fundraising tool to pay tribute for those who are important in their lives.

Mariani Landscaping designed the garden and Wright Landscaping was instrumental in bringing the garden together.

The title sponsor for the garden was Ed Rogan Jr., who wanted to find a way to honor his parents and uncle who struggled through the Great Depression and who discovered Lambs Farm in 1973 and marveled at the work accomplished at the campus.

"Laughter, compassion, exceptional people like (Lambs Farm founders) Bob (Terese) and Corinne (Owen), dignity, pride, communication barriers, jobs and God's help are why we support Lambs Farm," Rogan said during his speech at the dedication ceremony.

Major donors also include Jeffrey Benham and Cy and Lolly Rosengarten.
