Palatine Parks Offers Fall Ball

Registration is now open for the Fall Baseball programs offered by Palatine Youth Baseball/Softball and Palatine Baseball Association, both affiliates of Palatine Park District.

Palatine Youth Baseball/Softball - Fall Ball for Grades 3 through 6

Palatine Youth Baseball/Softball (PYB/S)is the Park District affiliate baseball/softball program for ages 5 through 6th grade. The association offers house leagues, post-season tournament teams, travel teams, fall ball, and instructional opportunities throughout the year.

The PYB/S Fall Ball program is being offered for the third year and the league has two divisions. The Minors Division is for players in 3rd and 4th grade for the 2015-2016 school year and the Bronco Division is for players in 5th and 6th grade in the fall. This is a casual league available to all players with an emphasis on fun and instruction. There will be no standings or stats, and games will have a hard time limit cut off of one hour and 45 minutes. Teams will be assigned one practice time each week and games will be played on Saturdays. Teams will be formed in early August with practices beginning in mid-August. The 8 week league will continue through October 8th, weather permitting. Registration for PYB/S fall ball can be done online at www.palatineparks.org or in person at Community Center, Birchwood Recreation Center, or Falcon Park Recreation Center. The registration deadline for this league is July 31, 2015.

Palatine Baseball Association - Fall Ball for Grades 7 through 12

Palatine Baseball Association (PBA) is the Park District affiliate baseball/softball program for ages 13 to 29, or grades 7 and up. The association offers a house league, post-season tournament teams, a fall ball league, and instructional opportunities.

PBA offers three fall ball programs for 2015-2016. The Pony Sunday Baseball League, offered for the third consecutive year, is for players in 7th and 8th grade for the 2015-2016 school year. The ten game season will be held from mid-August to late October. Games will be played on Sundays between 2:00pm and 6:00pm, and coaches can schedule optional practices on Saturdays. This league is a casual opportunity to continue to play ball into the fall months, and the league accommodates friendships while still allowing players to participate in a competitively balanced environment. The fee for is $100 per player which includes a shirt, hat, belt and socks for each player. The registration deadline for this program is July 31, 2015.

The Pony Instructional Program is for players who intend to eventually try out for high school, post-season, or travel teams. This instructional program will focus on a deeper understanding of the game and instruction will include the advanced fundamentals of hitting, pitching, fielding, base running, and baseball strategy.
