Grillers light up for Bull Burger Battle

Burger competitors will light up the grill at the third annual Bull Burger Battle coming to Carol Stream.

The contest and activities run 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at American Sale, 320 Army Trail Road.

The free event features a visit from Wade Fortin, 2013 American Sale Bull Burger Champ and two-time World Burger Champion, who will do live cooking demonstrations at noon and 2 p.m.

Other appearances include 2014 American Sale Bull Burger Battle Champs Colin and Ron Thompson of Plainfield and Carol Stream Mayor Frank Saverino. An appearance by Chicago Bears mascot Staley Da Bear and kids' activities round out the event.

Created in 2013, the Bull Burger Battle series has held battles in San Diego, Baton Rouge, Chicago, Indianapolis and Oklahoma City using Bull Outdoor grills.

Team Bull has been a force at the World Food Championships ever since, taking the burger title two years in a row. This year, battle cities include Baton Rogue; Mahopac, New York; San Marcos, California; and Indianapolis.

Up to 18 competitors in each city, from backyard heroes to notable cooks, fire up for bragging rights as the "best burger" in their hometown and to win a Bull Outdoor grill. Each Bull Burger Battle champion will have a chance to prove their burger isn't just the best burger in their hometown, but the best in the world as they compete with Team Bull in the World Burger Championships.
