Addison man charged with contacting teen for sex
A 27-year-old Addison man is accused of contacting a 14-year-old Wheeling girl on Facebook for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity, authorities said.
Juan Guerra was ordered held on $60,000 bail Wednesday on charges of grooming.
Cook County Judge Joseph Cataldo ordered Guerra have no contact with the teenager or anyone else under age 18.
The girl, who has autism, received permission from her parents to open a Facebook account, said Assistant State's Attorney Anisa Jordan.
On July 8, Guerra sent the girl a friend request, Jordan said. They subsequently communicated on Facebook by instant message between July 8 and 11. Guerra asked the girl if she had a boyfriend and if she would like him to be her boyfriend, Jordan said.
She said "yes" and told him she was 14, Jordan said. They exchanged photographs, she gave him her address, and he gave her his cellphone number, authorities said. Guerra told the girl he was 20 and sent her instant messages of a sexual nature and suggesting sexual activity, Jordan said.
The girl informed her parents, who called police, Jordan said. Arrested Tuesday, Guerra told police he wanted to hang out at her house to "see how far he could take things sexually," Jordan said.
Guerra next appears in court on Aug. 11.
