Road closure, parking restrictions set for Geneva Arts Fair

With thousands of visitors expected to attend the Geneva Arts Fair this weekend, the Geneva Police Department announced a segment of South Third Street will be closed during the festival.

The fair will be held 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 25 and 26, in downtown Geneva. To accommodate the event, parking on Third Street from James to South streets will be prohibited after 4 p.m. Friday, July 24. Starting at 5 p.m. that night, the same stretch of Third Street will be closed to traffic in both directions so artists can set up their tents.

"No Parking" signage will be posted during the morning July 24 to notify downtown visitors of the festival restrictions. If vehicles remain on South Third Street after 4 p.m., the police department will have them towed from the downtown.

The primary detour route is Second Street, but traffic on the cross streets of Third Street will be open throughout the event.

South Third Street will remain closed until about 8:30 p.m. July 26.
