Christmas in July in Waukegan

The Waukegan Park District, the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance of Chicago, and the Puerto Rican Society of Waukegan will celebrate Christmas in July on Saturday, July 25, 1 to 8 p.m. at Bowen Park, 39 Jack Benny Drive, Waukegan. This is the second year of this free and family-friendly event. Live entertainment between 2 and 8 p.m. includes, direct from Puerto Rico, NiƱos Trobadores de Comerio, Yezenia Cruz, and Edward Villanueva and local talent Los Hermanos, Taller PRAA and others. Additionally, a variety of artwork including ceramics, drawings, photography, paintings, crafts and jewelry will be on display and for sale. There will be traditional Puerto Rican holiday food available for sale such as lechon (roasted pork), arroz con gandules (rice with beans), and potato salad. There are a limited number of picnic benches. Visitors are welcome to bring their own blanket, lawn chairs, picnic, snacks, and nonalcoholic beverages. For more information, call (847) 360-4740.
