Two injured in crash near Rosemont

Two people were injured after a motorcycle hit a passenger vehicle on I-294 near Rosemont last night, officials said. Shortly after 1 p.m., a 48-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were riding a motorcycle northbound on I-294 when the motorcycle ran into the back of a Toyota passenger car, said Master Sgt. DuPage fair to open on time despite code violations

DuPage County Fair organizers say they've pulled off a "Miracle on Manchester" as they prepare to open their five-day run on Wednesday. "There have been times when I've wondered if it's ever going to get there," says Jim McGuire, the man in charge of the fair - and the miracle. Kane County Fair "pretty special" for 11-year-old champion

Every day for the past year, 11-year-old Chase Engel has spent hours taking care of his steer in preparation for the Kane County Fair's livestock exhibition and competition. In addition to washing, brushing and feeding him daily, the Genoa boy had the responsibility of taming the 1,335-pound animal. It all paid off yesterday when he became the youngest 4-H'er to win a grand championship for his steer at the Kane County Fair. Full story.

Search upheld in massive Aurora heroin case

A judge has upheld the April 2014 search of two people accused of laundering $190,000 for an accused Aurora heroin dealer. Juan Carlos Fernandez, 40, and Reyna R. Garcia-Manzaneres, 42, both of the 400 block of Howard Street, Evanston, argued that authorities lacked probable cause to stop and search their vehicle, where $190,050 was found in a hidden compartment. Kane County Judge Clint Hull disagreed and upheld the search and the admissibility of evidence in court, records show. Full story.

Suburban Chicago's Got Talent: Top 15 perform in Schaumburg

Meghan Foley may have been bullied in middle school, but she was the one who brought judges and audience members to tears - in a good way - last night in the Suburban Chicago's Got Talent contest at the Prairie Center for the Arts in Schaumburg. The soon-to-be Willowbrook senior performed her original song "Fearless," dedicating it to everyone who has fought or is fighting cancer. Full story.

Arrieta dominates, Cubs beat Braves 4-1

Jake Arrieta pitched seven dominant innings and Jorge Soler homered to help the Cubs beat the Atlanta Braves 4-1 yesterday. Arrieta (11-5) gave up three hits, three walks and struck out 10, throwing 73 of his 112 pitches for strikes. Over his last six starts, the right-hander is 5-0 with a 0.96 ERA. Full story.
