Cops investigating Gurnee church burglary

Gurnee police say they are investigating a burglary at the village's Bethel Lutheran Church.

Police said the burglary happened about 3:30 a.m. Friday at the church at 5110 Grand Ave.

Video surveillance reveals an older white man with a white beard or goatee, wearing dark coveralls, hat, headphones around his neck and gardening gloves pulling on three of the church doors, police said. Cops said the man took an undisclosed amount of cash in the burglary.

Anyone with information about the apparent suspect is asked to call the Gurnee police investigations unit at (847) 599-7080. Tipsters also may call Lake County CrimeStoppers at (847) 662-2222.
