Starbucks coffee flows on - from trailer in Glen Ellyn

Nothing quite sets off a Java junkie like a "Closed" sign on a Starbucks.

So when the coffee giant's downtown Glen Ellyn store prepared to shut its doors for interior renovations, the corporate powers that be requested village approval for a clever solution: a mobile trailer.

On Thursday, loyal - and relieved - customers lined up behind the trailer, capable of delivering hot and cold beverages and some prepackaged food. And if you wondered whether this was really a Starbucks operation, there's a big Siren on the side (the brand's green-haired mermaid).

The village allowed the trailer to take up to three parking spaces in front of the store, 536 Crescent Blvd. The village also allowed the temporary cafe, hooked up to the store's electricity and water, to run 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. until Friday, July 24.

The store is expected to reopen next Thursday.
