214@100: District 214 asking its alumni to step forward

As its centennial celebration comes to a close, District 214 is turning its attention to getting its alumni more involved.

The district is developing an alumni advisory council, and also has prepared an online alumni survey. The survey can be found at www.d214.org/alumni online from Monday, July 20 to Friday, Aug. 14, and is designed to gauge how alumni perceive District 214, as well as inform future alumni engagement activities.

Meanwhile, the district will launch an Alumni Advisory Council this fall, comprising two representatives from each of its original eight high schools.

"We've had many alumni tell us they want to get involved, and we are eager to hear from them and work with them as we move into our next century," said Erin Brooks, assistant director of community engagement and outreach.

The Alumni Advisory Council will meet four to six times a year and ask its members to commit for a year. The membership will have diverse ages, careers and interests and will advise on fostering alumni engagement and building partnerships.

Interested alumni can contact foundation@d214.org or call (847) 718-7708 for more information or an application.

Getting robust alumni involvement with District 214 is a goal of the Education Foundation, which supports student success, innovation and lifelong learning in 10 schools and programs across eight communities, as well as community programming that impacts generations through education.

Many alumni already volunteer their time and expertise in the district as career coaches and mentors, internship hosts and more.
