Brothers get chance to play baseball together

Eddie and Mark Blonski love baseball. Their mom and dad instilled in them a passion for the game ever since they could walk, run and throw a ball.

The boys have played Little League Baseball in Wisconsin and California. They now live in Hawthorn Woods and Mark plays baseball for Lake Zurich High School, where his older brother Eddie played for three years.

Eddie now plays for Concordia University Wisconsin (his dad's alma mater). Eddie and Mark are four years apart, so they have never had the opportunity to play on the same baseball team,

Until this summer.

Eddie has played for the Lake Zurich American Legion Post 964 for the last three seasons. This summer, Mark tried out for the team and was selected as one of the youngest players to play for the team.

However, this will be the last time the boys will play together unless they are drafted by the same professional team. This is Eddie's last year of eligibility for Legion baseball, while Mark has four more years.

This has been an exciting season for the Legion team. The team just participated in the River City Classic in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, going 2-2 in the invitational tournament. They also recently won their 13th game, securing the Lake County American Legion Championship.

Lake Zurich American Legion Post 964 now moves on to the next level of tournament play, working their way to the American Legion Baseball World Series in Shelby, North Carolina, which will be in August.
