'Day in the Park' to find ability in disability

St. Charles - Day in the Park, an annual event that emphasizes the ability in disability, will be held Wednesday, July 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pottawatomie Park in St. Charles.

Hosted by the Fox Valley Special Recreation Association and St. Charles Noon Kiwanis Club, Day in the Park will bring together over 700 campers from throughout the Fox Valley area - both with and without special needs - to learn about one another's abilities through inclusive play.

Held in celebration of the nation's official Park and Recreation Month, Day in the Park strives to enhance public awareness of therapeutic recreation programs for individuals with disabilities.

Activities will include a moon jump, dunk tank, face painting, live music and much more for a day of enrichment and fun.

A 16-year collaborative effort between FVSRA and the St. Charles Noon Kiwanis Club, Day in the Park unites FVSRA campers with special needs with campers from the Batavia, Fox Valley, Geneva, Oswegoland and St. Charles Park Districts and the South Elgin Parks & Recreation Department.

Fox Valley Special Recreation Association provides a diverse range of year-round recreational activities to enable residents with disabilities to experience active, healthy and playful lifestyles.
