Glen Ellyn District 89 seeking new board member

The Glen Ellyn Elementary District 89 school board is accepting letters of interest from residents to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of board President Frank Zak that takes effect Aug. 1.

Zak, who has served on the board since 2005, cited personal and professional factors for his decision to step down. By law, the position must be filled within 45 days.

To be eligible, a candidate must be a U.S. citizen; at least 18; a registered voter; and a resident of Illinois and the district for at least a year. Candidates may not be sex offenders, hold other incompatible public offices or have a prohibited interest in any district contract.

The new board member will serve until the seat is up for re-election on April 4, 2015.

Applicants may send their letter of interest to Board Secretary Jill Coran at jcoran@ccsd89.org or mail them to: Jill Coran, Board Secretary, CCSD 89, 22W600 Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.

Letters of interest must be received by Aug. 28. Interviews for the appointment will take place in early September.
