Fox Country Players' academy rehearses for upcoming performances

More than 60 aspiring performers, from all over the Fox Valley community, began rehearsals last week at Fox Country Players' Theatre Arts Academy.

To prepare for their final performances, students entering first grade through graduating seniors spent their time learning the songs, dances and stage work that will make up their show.

Students also had fun in the art room preparing their props, costumes and sets.

"Under the Sea" is a collection of skits performed by students in first to eighth grade.

This underwater adventure includes the titles: "Return to the Sea" by Blair Wright, "Atlantis Idol" by Meg McGarry, and "Pirates," adapted by Matt Weaver.

The finale of the show will be the song "Under the Sea" performed by the entire company.

"Disney's Little Mermaid Jr." is a musical based on the beloved Disney movie. Alexis Dilg has been cast as "Ariel," Nick Damato as "Prince Eric," Nick Miesuk as "Sebastian," Annie Shirley as "Flounder," and Mackenzie Burke as "Ursula." The high school students are having a good time but working diligently to produce a musical in just three short weeks.

All performances of "Under the Sea" and "Disney's Little Mermaid Jr." will be performed in the fellowship hall of the Yorkville Congregational Church, 409 Center Parkway Yorkville.

"Under the Sea" will have performances at 7 p.m. Friday, July 17, and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, July 18.

"Disney's Little Mermaid Jr." will have performances at 7 p.m. Friday, July 24, and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, July 25.
