Attic fire does more than $45,000 damage to Lombard home

No injuries were reported in an attic fire that caused more than $45,000 in damage to a Lombard home, officials said Monday.

Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire on the 21000 block of 22nd Street shortly after 5:30 a.m. Friday. Upon arrival, they found smoke coming from the attic.

A resident reported she woke and saw smoke coming through a vent in the two-story house. She was able to evacuate the home with her family.

Five fire departments and three fire protection districts assisted, along with the DuPage County Sheriff's Department.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
