4-H youth to demonstrate skills, hard work at DuPage County Fair
WHEATON, Ill. - For hundreds of local youth, 4-H project displays and animal shows are an important and fun part of the annual DuPage County Fair, which is scheduled for July 22-26.
"We hope you will join us Fair Week to celebrate the hard work and achievements of these local youth," said Christine Birns, 4-H Youth Development Program Coordinator. "Throughout the year, our 4-H members strive to learn new skills and develop talents, which they then demonstrate through the annual 4-H exhibits and shows at the DuPage County Fair."
Projects on display in the 4-H Building on the fairgrounds include: visual arts, woodworking, electricity, natural resources, computers, robotics, horticulture, photography, sewing and textiles, food and nutrition, and more. These project areas are judged before the fair, but are open for viewing throughout the week, Birns said.
During the fair, other 4-H project areas will host shows, including the livestock competitions. The 4-H sheep show will start at 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 22 in the tent show ring, and the poultry show begins at 8:30 a.m. at the poultry barn.
Swine and goat judging begin Thursday, July 23, at 9 a.m., in the goat barn and livestock show ring, respectively. On Friday, the rabbit judging starts at 8:30 a.m. in the rabbit barn.
The 4-H awards program will begin at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 26 in the program tent at the DuPage County Fairgrounds.
