Arlington Heights police investigating two deaths at motel

Arlington Heights police are investigating the deaths of a man and woman whose bodies were found Thursday afternoon at a hotel on the village's south side. The bodies were found at the Motel 6, 441 W. Algonquin Road, where a large police presence included a van from the Major Crimes Task Force and helicopters. Full story.

Abduction attempt reported in Elgin

A man riding in a white cargo van attempted to abduct a boy in a stroller Thursday night in Elgin, police said in a news release. A 45-year-old woman told police she was walking with a girl and a boy when the van made a U-turn near Gertrude and Morgan streets and approached her about 8 p.m. Full story.

Police, FBI seek Arlington Heights bank robber

Arlington Heights and the FBI are seeking a man who robbed the Chase bank branch at 43 E. Golf Road early Thursday afternoon. According to police, the man entered the bank just before 1:30 p.m. Thursday, approached a teller window and handed over a note demanding cash. Full story.

Lake Zurich man charged with reproducing child pornography

Lake County sheriff's police arrested a Lake Zurich man they say duplicated, distributed and stored child pornography on his computer. According to a news release, Jonathon C. Crouter, 23, of the 100 block of Pine Avenue, has been charged with 10 counts of reproducing child pornography. Full story.

Police need help to find missing 62-year-old man

The Cook County sheriff's office is seeking the public's help to locate a missing 62-year-old man. According to a news release, Hector Castillo-Nunez was last seen on the night of July 3 on the 2200 block of Nichols Road in an unincorporated area near Arlington Heights. He does not speak English. 4 reasons Naperville's drinking-related crime is decreasing

The number of fights and unruly people resisting police officers has steadily declined in downtown Naperville in the nine months since authorities began tracking drinking-related crime in the central business district. Reports of fighting and resisting have decreased over the previous year in each of three quarterly reports released since the city council added regulations on late-night bar entry, beer sizes, shot sales, drink specials and security training last fall, police said.
