Labels show effort to smear conservatives

In his article about his interview with 81-year-old Arlene Sawicki, Burt Constable can't help labeling her a "rabid" conservative. I noticed he labeled himself an "ultra" liberal, not a "rabid" liberal.

As a journalist, Burt has to know that the word "rabid" used in this context essentially means, "angry" and "crazy". Nowhere further in the article does Burt describe Mrs. Sawicki as angry or crazy. Apparently, then, he meant to smear conservatives, generally.

And then, he laments that differences in America can cause the conversation to be mean-spirited.

And that raises a question. Besides, "angry", often, conservatives are also labeled, "mean." Full of "hate." As a self-described "ultraliberal," Burt, I expect, often feels that way about conservatives.

My question for him is, did he detect "hate" in Mrs. Sawicki?
