Suburbs celebrate Independence Day with community spirit and sunny skies

From a charity run in St. Charles and patriotic parade through Arlington Heights, to backyard cookouts, and live music and carnival rides at town festivals, the suburbs celebrated America's birthday Saturday with fun, family and flag-waving fervor.

The good cheer and community were helped along the way by weather that played nice for what it might seem like the first time in weeks, basking revelers in sunshine and blue skies.
