Try Bard-inspired crafts at Shakespeare in the Park July 18

Enjoy a preshow bite-sized Bard craft with Aurora native and Shakespeare's Seasons illustrator Shannon Whitt at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at Island Park in Geneva.

Whitt will lead an exploration of some of Shakespeare's most vivid verses, especially chosen for little ears. Each child will then bring a verse to life through imagination and illustration!

Seating for "Shakespeare in the Park," sponsored by the Geneva Cultural Arts Commission, begins at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at Geneva's idyllic Island Park.

The performance of "Twelfth Night" begins at 6 p.m.

Whitt is a freelance set decorator, prop designer, and illustrator who has worked in extensively in theater, television, and print. Her intricate collages combine her love of theatrical design and skills as an artisan for the purpose of telling a story. She is the illustrator of the children's picture book "The Bite Sized Bard: Shakespeare's Seasons" and the author of "Crafty Pants, Clever Costumes," a children's costume kit. She lives in Brooklyn, N.Y., with her husband and their two young sons.
