More fests open in Northwest suburbs

After weeks of rain, Fourth of July festivals are off to a great start with sunny skies and cool weather.

On Thursday, Palatine's Hometown Fest began at Community Park with a special needs carnival. Bartlett's Fourth of July festival also opened Thursday with a special needs carnival. Barrington's festival, marking the town's 150th anniversary, kicked off at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Meanwhile, Frontier Days in Arlington Heights, Northwest Fourth Fest in Hoffman Estates and the Mount Prospect Lions Fair continued for a second day.
