14th District students to attend military academies

U.S. Representative Randy Hultgren of IL-14 congratulates the 12 students from Illinois' 14th Congressional District that were selected to attend the United States military service academies next fall.

The congressman hosted the selected students at a formal reception at the Campton Hills District Office on Friday. Factors such as academic achievements, strong character, leadership skills, physical aptitude and exceptional motivation are taken into consideration for service academy selection.

"Each of these 12 students represents the strong moral and academic character of the 14th District," Rep. Hultgren said. "I am impressed by each of their stories and am proud to have nominated these ambitious individuals to serve our nation and be educated at such exceptional institutions."

The students are:

• Joshua Bell of Antioch, who will attend West Point.

• Kirby Einck of Geneva, who will attend West Point.

• Mitchell Fornek of Oswego, who will attend the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis.

• Adam Harris of McHenry, who will attend the Naval Academy.

• Trevor Jones of Oswego, who will attend West Point.

• Eugene Kim of Hawthorn Woods, who will attend the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs.

• Michael Krauss of Yorkville, who will attend the Merchant Marines Academy at Kings Point.

• Dylan Magness of Huntley, who will attend the Air Force Academy.

• Nicholas Remke of Marengo, who will attend the Coast Guard Academy at New London.

• Alex Vandenberg of Sugar Grove, who will attend the Naval Academy.

• Ryan Wieties of Batavia, who will attend the United States Military Academy at West Point.

• Drew Wiss of Elgin, who will attend the Air Force Academy.
