Boomers beat Greys 6-2 for second straight win

The two-time defending Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers scored a second consecutive win by disposing of the Frontier Greys 6-2 on Wednesday night.

The Boomers took advantage of 2-out walks in the first and second to open a 2-0 lead. Alexi Colon delivered an RBI single in the first following walks to Joel Hutter and Mike Schulze. Jordan Dean doubled home Cam Sherrer, who walked, in the second. Brett Mabry kept the Greys at bay, working six blank innings on the mound to improve to 3-2 on the season. Schaumburg padded the lead with 2 runs in the fifth and seventh to move ahead 6-0. Hutter led a 10-hit attack with three hits. Dean and Justin Vasquez each picked up a pair of hits.

Schaumburg (18-23) continues the six-game homestand on Thursday night by aiming for the sweep of the Frontier Greys. Right-hander Raul Jacobson (0-1, 6.75) makes the start in the 6:30 p.m. game opposite right-hander Bobby Shore (3-3, 4.75).
