COD Offers Free Seminar for Seniors on Computer Crimes Aug. 13

College of DuPage is offering a free seminar designed to educate attendees about computer crimes.

This session will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, in the Homeland Security Education Center (HSTI) on the College's main campus, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.

Funded through a grant provided by Motorola Solutions, this seminar is free and open to the public.

During this program, attendees will learn how to recognize and protect themselves from crime and scams implemented through a computer, including credit card fraud, email and phishing scams, internet auction fraud, and web cam hackers.

In addition, a seminar focusing on financial crimes aimed at seniors will be held on Thursday, Oct. 12, and will include information on funeral and bereavement scams, identity theft, letter of credit fraud, Ponzi schemes, and pyramid schemes.
