College of DuPage board Chairwoman Kathy Hamilton said school officials plan to examine the backgrounds of any peer reviewers the Higher Learning Commission sends to investigate claims of possible wrongdoing at the Glen Ellyn-based school. The agency scrapped an accreditation visit to COD scheduled for this week after one member of the three-person evaluation team, Jackson College President Daniel Phelan, dropped out a day after a government watchdog group reported that he had received a vote of no confidence in January 2014 from his Michigan school's faculty and support staff unions. Verdi: Darling earned his day with the Cup

Scott Darling, now sporting a freshly tattooed right arm with a mosaic that includes the 2015 Stanley Cup, brought the Cup yesterday to Lemont, where he and his family lived when he was in second to seventh grade. "Scott's journey is a movie, and we want the screen rights," said uncle Tom Dalton. "When he was a kid here, during the summer we'd play street hockey. Six on six, a best-of-seven series. We had this punch bowl, and we decorated it, dressed it all up to look like a Stanley Cup. Guys on the winning team, they'd each get it for a day. Now the real one is here, with Scott."
