Star-studded lineup coming to North Central College

Musical groups ranging from the Temptations to the Doobie Brothers and from the Canadian Brass to the Chicago Jazz Orchestra will perform at North Central College as part of the Naperville school's 2015-16 fine and performing arts season.

The college announced its concert schedule on Tuesday.

"Every year I wonder how I'm going to top the year before," said Brian Lynch, North Central's fine arts director. "But every year I'm always thrilled with the results."

Lynch said a lot of people encouraged him to bring in country artist Rodney Atkins for the coming season and the community seems to approve. He also jumped for joy himself when he heard the Doobie Brothers would be included in the lineup.

Since the Wentz Concert Hall's opening in 2008, fine arts department organizers have tried to take advantage of the college's facilities and offer artists that might appeal to various demographics.

"Buy tickets early because they're going to sell out," Lynch said.

Tickets for individual performances are available by calling (630) 637-7469, online at northcentralcollege.edu/show or in person at the Fine Arts Center box office, 171 E. Chicago Ave.

The concert schedule includes:

• Peter Frampton, "Raw: An Acoustic Tour," on Oct. 22;

• Jonny Lang on Oct. 25;

• The Doobie Brothers on Nov. 15;

• David Benoit on Dec. 12;

• The Tenors on Dec. 18;

• Jim Peterik & World Stage on Jan. 16;

• "Sinatra Forever: Salute to Frank Sinatra" on Jan. 30;

• Jim Brickman on Feb. 6;

• The Temptations on April 1;

• David Sanborn on April 9;

• and Rodney Atkins on May 14.

Patrons may buy discounted tickets to five different series: Cabaret, Classical, Contemporary, Jazz and Performing Arts. Patrons also may create their own A La Carte Series and buy seats at a 10 percent discount when purchasing tickets to five or more shows.

School officials said more artists still will be added to the schedule.
