Mount Prospect Lions' Village Fair July 1-5

The Mount Prospect Lions Club promises to provide fun and entertainment for all ages at its 77th annual Village Festival, one of the largest summer parties in the Northwest suburbs.

"We are proud of our many contributions to the Mount Prospect community over the years," said Fred Steinmiller, Mount Prospect Lions Club Festival chairman and club first vice president. "The 77th annual festival is our main event of the year and once again we will offer many choices of entertainment for our neighbors and their families. There will be a variety of live music, food and beverages, and great carnival rides. We will also offer fireworks on July first and July Fourth, Family Day on July third, our traditional pancake breakfast on July Fourth, and a car show along with Polish Heritage Day on July fifth.

"We invite everyone to join us for Mount Prospect's biggest party. Have some fun and help the Mount Prospect Lions Club continue making contributions to the community."

Steinmiller said that nightly festival entertainment this year includes: American English on Wednesday, July 1; Bruce in The USA (a popular East Coast Bruce Springsteen-cover band) on Thursday, July 2; Wedding Banned on Friday, July 3; 7th heaven on Saturday, July Fourth; and Libido Funk Circus on Sunday, July 5. The media sponsor for Polish Heritage Day is Wietrzne Radio Polski (WCPY 92.7 FM Arlington Heights and WCPQ 99.9 FM Park Forest) with musical entertainment provided by Fox Band and DJ and Profusion Band from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Steinmiller asked residents to look for the "Bang for Your Buck" collection cans in local businesses and help the club cover the cost of the fireworks shows by donating any spare change.

Food tent vendors include Mi Restaurante, Olympus Gyros, Lions Club, Draft Picks, 7-Eleven, Smakowski Polish Deli, Little Jimmy's Italian Ice and Completely Nuts. Beer, wine and margaritas also are available. No outside food, beverages or coolers are allowed on the fair grounds.

Unlimited ride specials, which cost $20, are 6 to 11 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and 1 to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

Updated festival information is available at the club's website (www.mtprospectlions.com/fest) or at the village hotline, (847) 870-6622. The Mount Prospect Lions Club Festival is held each year at Melas Park on Central Road between Northwest Highway and Busse Road, just west of downtown Mount Prospect.
