The Peoples' Bank Sponsorship a Constant for Stampede Run

The Frontier Days Festival with its musical acts, red-vested volunteers and whirling carnival lights has been an integral part of the 4th of July in Arlington Heights for decades. Taking place in the midst of the celebration is the annual Stampede 5/10K Run and Walk which for many years has started and finished under the green and black banners of The Peoples' Bank of Arlington Heights. As it has with the Sounds of Summer Concert Series, National Night Out and Picnic in the Park, the local community bank made a long-term commitment to sponsor the race and has watched participation grow year after year.

"I enjoy walking out to the race site on the Sunday morning of the holiday weekend and seeing so many neighbors, residents and families gathering at the start," said Peoples' Bank President Frank Appleby. "It really is an event that draws people from every part of our community and it means a lot to us to help make it possible."

Over the years the race has grown into one of the largest and most popular in the Chicagoland area. Known for the quality of operations and runner-friendly course, the 2015 Stampede will kick off under new direction for the first time in more than a decade. Pat Peery and Steve Sawyer who have taken over as Sponsor Coordinator and Race Director, respectively, were glad to know that at least one piece of the puzzle was constant. "It was very clear to us that The Peoples' Bank was on board as a primary sponsor from Day 1 which certainly helped us concentrate on other areas," said Peery. "They have helped make the event possible for a number of years and it was reassuring to know that their commitment remained strong."

Registration is now open for the race online at http://www.frontierdays.org/stampede.htm or via flyers available throughout town including at both Peoples' Bank locations (41 South Vail and 1104 South Arlington Heights Road).

"I know Pat and Steve will continue the great tradition of the race and The Peoples' Bank is very pleased to continue on in supporting this great community event," said Appleby.
