Young Libertyville judges pick their favorite pizza

And the winner is ... Papa John's. That's the result of a pizza taste test Monday afternoon at Cook Park Library in Libertyville.

Fifteen children, ages 12 to 17, had the chance to pick their favorite cheese pizza during the event. They tried seven pizzas from Rosati's, Jett's, Gino's East, Pizza Italia, Dominos, Hitz and Papa John's.

"I wanted everything to be equal that I could make equal," said Ellen Jennings, the teen services librarian at Cook Park Library. "Thin crust and cheese. Kids like cheese pizza."

Pizzas were judged in a blind taste test and were given scores of one to five on crust, sauce and flavor.

The young judges also tried to guess which company produced which pizza.

Kids who didn't participate will have another chance July 17 at Cook Park Library and at a still-to-be-determined date in August at the Aspen Drive Library in Vernon Hills.
