Our guide to suburban fireworks displays

Fireworks will light up suburban skies in the coming days, in honor of Independence Day.

Here is our guide to local fireworks:

Antioch

9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 4, at Williams Park, Williams Road and Route 83, Antioch. antioch.il.gov. Free.

Arlington Heights

Dusk on Saturday, July 4, at Arlington International Racecourse, 2200 W. Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights. Racing, live music and activities for the whole family begin at 3 p.m. Tickets at arlingtonpark.com. $4-$18 general admission; special packages available.

Aurora

9:30 p.m. Friday, July 3, RiverEdge Park, 360 N. Broadway St., Aurora and McCullough Park, Illinois Avenue and Lake Street, Aurora. Activities run 6 to 10 p.m. at both RiverEdge Park and McCullough Park. Concerts and other activities. Fireworks can be seen from both parks. aurora-il.org. Free.

Barrington

Bartlett

9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 4, Apple Orchard Park. 700 S. Bartlett Road, Bartlett. village.bartlett.il.us. Free.

Batavia

9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 4, at Engstrom Park, Main and Millview streets, Batavia. Savor the Flavor food vendors open from 5 to 9:30 p.m. bataviafireworks.org. $5 donation for parking at both high school parking lots (off Wilson and Main), the Ace Hardware parking lot and the Wilson Business Center on West Wilson Street.

Bensenville

9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 4, Redmond Recreational Complex, 735 E, Jefferson, Bensenville. Before the fireworks show, Heartache Tonight, an Eagles tribute band, performs from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. bensenville.il.us. Free.

Buffalo Grove

9:15 p.m. Saturday, July 4, Rotary Green Park, just north of the post office at Buffalo Grove and Old Checker roads, Buffalo Grove. The Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band performs a two-hour, pre-fireworks concert. Designated viewing areas are the Buffalo Grove Golf Course and Willow Stream Park. vbg.org. Free.

Carol Stream

9:20 p.m. Saturday, July 4, Carol Stream Town Center, 910 N. Gary Ave., Carol Stream. Arrive early at 6 p.m. for food from Chicago area food trucks. facebook.com/vilofcarolstream. Free admission.

Cary

Elk Grove Village

Fox Lake

Dusk on Saturday, July 4. The site has moved from Fox Lake to Nippersink Lake, with the best viewing spot to be located at the Lakefront Park in Fox Lake. foxlake.org. Free.

Geneva

Fireworks follow the Kane County Cougars baseball team's home game against the Clinton LumberKings on Friday, July 3, at the First Third Bank Ballpark, 34W002 Cherry Lane, Geneva. Game begins at 6:30 p.m. kccougars.com, Special packages, including food and soft drinks, $22-$30.

Glendale Heights

9:30 p.m. Wednesday July 8, and Sunday, July 12, Camera Park, 101 E. Fullerton Ave., Glendale Heights. glendaleheights.org. Free.
