Rain or shine? 5 things to do in the suburbs this weekend

Rain has ruined more than a few days lately. This weekend, plan a few outdoor options - and a few indoor backups - should Mother Nature continue to dampen our summer spirit.

<h3 class="breakHead">A berry good time</h3>

Enjoy chocolate-dipped strawberries and other treats at Long Grove Strawberry Fest, Old McHenry Road and Robert Parker Coffin Road, downtown Long Grove. <h3 class="breakHead">Nostalgia trip</h3>

Take a musical bop down memory lane with Fox Valley Repertory's "The Bikinis," at Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St., St. Charles. The musical revue - about a '60s girl group - features hits from the era. Tickets $32-42. <h3 class="breakHead">Fireman's fest</h3>

Have a blast with water fights, music and more at the Fox Lake Fireman's Festival, Fox Lake Volunteer Fire Department Bingo Hall on Washington Street, Fox Lake. <h3 class="breakHead">'Peanuts' party</h3>

In conjunction with the "Pigskin Peanuts" traveling exhibit, the Elmhurst Historical Museum, 120 E. Park Ave., Elmhurst, hosts a Touchdown Tailgate Party Sunday featuring live music, an appearance by Snoopy, "Peanuts" drawing workshops, football-themed inflatables, games, exhibit tours and free hot dogs and lemonade.
