Parkway bridge is long overdue

I have long been an advocate for a bridge over the Fox River in northern Kane County. The Longmeadow Parkway connecting Algonquin Road to IL-25, IL-31, Randall Road and Huntley Road is exactly what we need in northern Kane County.

The site selected will affect very few residents and will provide a much-needed corridor across the Fox River. The recent purchase of the Brunner Property by Kane County adjacent to the Fox River included provisions for the Parkway bridge.

I have read letters from Barrington Hills against the Parkway, but understand that the negative impact to that community is minimal while the benefits are great.

The only people complaining are those who don't have to cross the Fox River daily and wait in hourlong streams of traffic.

Just the benefit of reduced automobile emissions will be a blessing to all communities along Algonquin Road.

Kane County residents chose county board members in part because of the promise to provide this much-needed and desired traffic corridor and bridge. Potential board members were soundly rejected for opposing the Longmeadow Parkway and bridge.

I am glad that the county is moving the project along. It is about time!
