Fundraiser to aid cancer facility

Northbrook's Debbie Kramer and Highland Park's Debbie Greenhill are serving as co-chairs of the upcoming Be Part of the CURE Summer Party, which takes place Friday, July 31, at Grainger, 100 Granger Parkway in Lake Forest.

The third annual fundraiser, hosted by The Auxiliary of NorthShore University HealthSystem at Highland Park Hospital, will support the hospital's NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center.

"I've been involved with the auxiliary for four years," said Kramer, owner of Soul2Sole Dance, Inc., in Highland Park and Buffalo Grove. "I love giving back to my community. Working toward raising funds for NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center, and knowing that this helps ease the lives of cancer patients, is truly an honor. I'm proud to be part of it."

"I joined the auxiliary right after a dear friend of mine was diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer, and at the same time another friend of mine lost his battle with colon cancer," Greenhill said.

"My friend survived after receiving her treatment from Kellogg Cancer Center, and she asked if I would consider joining her as an auxiliary board member. Of course, my answer was yes."

Both women are excited about this year's venue and what guests will experience throughout the evening, including hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, a raffle, silent auction and music spun by Platinum Events. Some of the auction items include a Chicago Blackhawks jersey signed by all members of the 2015 Stanley Cup team, an Aspen vacation, jewelry, theater tickets and dining packages for the area's most popular restaurants.

Be Part of the CURE begins at 7 p.m. and continues until 10 p.m. Tickets are $100 in advance and $125 at the door. Funds raised during the event will support NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center at Highland Park Hospital to expand clinical research efforts, enhance patient care treatment and provide educational opportunities for the collaborative nursing staff to improve patient experiences.

The NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center offers a patient-centered approach to provide a caring, safe and supportive atmosphere for patients and their loved ones.

Emerald Sponsors include Berger Schatz Matrimonial and Family Law Attorneys, Fertility Centers of Illinois, Freedom Home Care and The Fraida Foundation.
