Carpentersville woman breaks probation in birthday party murder, faces prison

A 24-year-old Carpentersville woman who received probation for stabbing and killing an uninvited and violent guest at her sister's birthday party in 2010 may have used up her second chance.

Jacqueline S. Loyola admitted to violating her probation, and a hearing is scheduled for Aug. 20, during which she could be sent to prison.

Prosecutors and Loyola's public defender this week stipulated, or agreed to, the fact she violated her probation by failing to complete 100 hours of community service, and for a 2013 arrest for driving while her license was suspended, according to prosecutors and court records.

Kane County Judge Marmarie Kostelny could resentence Loyola to up to 20 years in prison for the stabbing death of Kassandra Caceres, who was from a rival gang.

Caceres, of Aurora, punched and kicked Loyola's 16-year-old sister before Loyola stabbed Caceres at the April 2010 party.

Loyola pleaded guilty in December 2011 to the reduced charged of second-degree murder and she was issued four years of probation, ordered to complete 100 hours of community service within six months, and could not get arrested during that time.

In April 2013, she was arrested by West Dundee Police on a charge of driving on a suspended license. She also was charged with resisting arrest by not allowing police to handcuff her, according to court records.

Under state law, Loyola only must serve half of any prison sentence if she exhibits good behavior while behind bars.

She also is eligible for more probation.
