Waukegan police seek second suspect in attempted robbery

Waukegan police have arrested one suspect and are looking for a second in the attempted armed robbery of a grocery store Tuesday afternoon.

Zorran Love, 18, of the 1900 block of North Lewis Avenue in Waukegan, has been charged with attempted armed robbery, attempted aggravated robbery and two counts of aggravated battery.

Detectives also have obtained an arrest warrant for 23-year-old Divonte Calhoun, who has a last known address on the 5100 block of Patterson in Chicago, officials said. Calhoun, who police say is considered armed and dangerous, is wanted on $500,000 bond and charged with the same offenses as Love.

Though no money was taken during the crime, the handgun used in the attempted robbery has not been recovered. Police advise members of the public to call 911 if they see Calhoun.

Police received the call of the attempted armed robbery at Sun Foods on the 1500 block of Sunset Avenue at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

When officers arrived, the store clerk explained she was robbed at gunpoint by two men, one of whom reportedly struck her multiple times with the handgun.

Detectives took over the case and arrested Love the same evening. He is currently being held in Lake County jail on $250,000 bond. He will next appear at the Lake County Courthouse at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 16.
