Thomas A. Smith appointed executive director at The Holmstad
Thomas A. Smith has been named executive director for The Holmstad, a faith-based, nonprofit continuing care retirement community operated by Covenant Retirement Communities, Inc.
A seasoned health care and senior living professional with more than 25 years of experience, Smith oversees daily operations at the senior living community, which serves residents in 289 residential living apartments, 50 assisted living apartments 13 memory support apartments, 63 catered living apartments, and a 90-bed skilled nursing center. He reports to Joshua Anderson, associate vice president of operations at Covenant Retirement Communities.
Prior to joining The Holmstad, Smith was CEO/executive director and regional home health administrator of Lifespace Communities: Harbour's Edge, Delray, Beach, Fla., where he directed four Lifespace home health agencies in Palm Beach County. At Mennonite Retirement Community, he was senior operations manager and then served as executive director at Capital Senior Living: Spring Meadows, Naperville, Ill. At Erickson Living, formerly Erickson Retirement Communities, Smith was in the workforce strategies program and served as associate executive director.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Smith continued his education at Benedictine University in Lisle, where he earned a master of public health and master of business administration. He is an adjunct professor at Benedictine University where he teaches graduate classes in business administration.
Smith is a member of the America College of Health Care Administration and a licensed nursing home administrator for the state of Illinois. He lives in Naperville.
