Wauconda Fest begins in Cook Park

Rainy skies departed just in time for the start of Wauconda Fest Thursday evening in Cook Park.

Thursday's highlights of the four-day festival included carnival rides and games, a wine and cheese tasting, a jazz trio, food from local vendors, and the rock group Wedding Banned on the main stage.

Friday will feature bingo, the Motown band R-Gang and the pop and rock band Modern Day Romeos. A wide variety of activities are planned throughout the weekend, including an illusionist, water fights, police dog demonstrations, a bags tournament, a 5K/10K run, a car and craft show, kids activities and bands.

The festival closes at 9 p.m. Sunday, June 28.
