Hanover Township, Bartlett partner for food collection

Hanover Township and the Bartlett Chamber of Commerce are partnering to collect donations for the Township Food Pantry during the Bartlett Independence Day Parade Sunday, July 5, beginning at 1 p.m.

The Hanover Township Food Pantry serves 800-1,000 families monthly. Attendees are asked to bring their donations to the parade. Members of the Bartlett Chamber of Commerce will be pushing shopping carts along the parade route to collect the donations.

"We are excited to continue our partnership with the Bartlett Chamber of Commerce," said Hanover Township Supervisor Brian P. McGuire. "The summer season is always our most difficult time in receiving donations for the pantry, so the support from the chamber is very much appreciated."

Most needed items include: tuna, coffee, peanut butter, jelly, rice, potatoes, cereal, canned goods, macaroni and cheese, etc.; personal care items such as shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste; paper goods like toilet paper, paper towels; laundry detergent and dish soap.

The Hanover Township Food Pantry is at the Astor Avenue Community Center, 7431 Astor Ave., in Hanover Park. The pantry is currently running on a summer schedule and is open to township residents from 1-3 p.m. Monday; 1-6 p.m. Tuesday; 12:30-3:30 p.m. Wednesday - Friday; and 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Saturdays.

For information or questions regarding a donation, contact the Hanover Township Astor Avenue Community Center at (630) 540-9085.
