Lombard memorial to honor Dorothy Bergmann

A memorial to longtime Lombard resident Dorothy Bergmann will be dedicated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 26, at the Lombard Park District's Log Cabin in Four Seasons Park, Main and 16th streets.

The Log Cabin where the memorial will be located was special to the Bergmann family because Dorothy's son's Eagle Scout project was part of the Boy Scout effort to create the totem pole in the park area surrounding the cabin.

The Bergmann Memorial Fund includes contributions from the Lombard Garden Club and the Lombard Woman's Club, donated as gifts in Bergmann's name. With the donated funds, the Lombard Park District plans to build a water fountain and renovate the totem pole. Landscaping began last fall when perennials were planted around the cabin. A plaque will be mounted to honor the Bergmann family donation.
