Rolling Meadows police warn of vehicle burglaries

Rolling Meadows police are investigating a recent surge in vehicle burglaries targeting unlocked vehicles in residential driveways.

The suspect(s) may be casing vehicles or checking for items that are left in plain view inside a vehicle, police said. Computers, purses, luggage, wallets, phones, and documents are among the items that have been stolen.

Police say residents can reduce their risk of becoming a victim by: remaining vigilant and responsible neighbors, and reporting any suspicious activities by calling 911 or the police department's 24-hour nonemergency number at (847) 255-2416; always locking and closing doors and windows; removing items of value from your vehicle, or at least hiding them; closing garage doors; and parking in a well-lit area.
