Get tickets for Kaneland Arts Initiative's 'Big the Musical'

The Kaneland Arts Initiative is pleased to announce the public online sale of tickets to the sixth annual summer theater production, "Big the Musical."

The classic 1987 motion picture fantasy, starring Tom Hanks, bursts onto the stage in the unforgettable theatrical experience.

Featuring a witty, moving, and insightful book by John Weidman ("Assassins," "Pacific Overtures," "Road Show") and a dazzling, energetic, heartfelt, contemporary score by David Shire and Richard Maltby Jr. ("Baby," "Closer Than Ever," "Starting Here," "Starting Now") "Big" is a perfect show for audiences of all ages! Josh Baskin, a frustrated adolescent magically becomes an adult, discovering life is not simply child's play.

"Big the Musical," directed by Doug Orlyk, will be performed over two weekends in July in the Kaneland Auditorium. Performances will be 7 p.m. Fridays, July 10 and 17; 7 p.m. Saturdays, July 11 and 18; and 2 p.m. Sundays, July 12 and 19.

All seats are reserved. Online ticket prices and box office ticket prices are different and the public is encouraged to purchase tickets online.

Online ticket prices are $10, $8 for seniors, $5 for students or free for preschoolers (since seats are reserved, preschoolers need a ticket).

All online tickets may be purchased through the Kaneland Arts Initiative website, www.kanelandartsinitiative.org. The box office opens 1 hour before the show. The musical is appropriate for all ages. The performances are 2 hours long with one 15-minute intermission. While neither food nor drinks are allowed in the Kaneland Auditorium, refreshments will be available for a donation. The Kaneland Auditorium is located on the campus of Kaneland High School, 47W326 Keslinger Road, Maple Park.
