HOFFMAN ESTATES MAYOR PROCLAIMS PALATINE PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT DAY ON JUNE 22, 2015

William McLeod, Mayor of Hoffman Estates has proclaimed Monday, June 22, 2015 as Palatine Public Library District Day in the Village of Hoffman Estates and urges all residents and businesses of Hoffman Estates and surrounding suburbs to join in its observance and to patronize the many wonderful programs and events the Library has to offer.

The Certificate of Proclamation was presented by Mayor McLeod to Anthony Auston, Library Director. "On behalf of the Board and staff of the Palatine Public Library District we are honored for this Day of Observance, and wish to express our gratitude to Mayor McLeod for his recognition of the Library's service to the community. We also wish to extend our sincere appreciation and thanks to Barbara Illian for her extraordinary commitment and 24 years of service on the Library Board. We wish her all the best in her retirement," said Auston, Library Director.

Barbara E. Illian, longstanding member and past-President of the Board of Library Trustees and resident of Hoffman Estates, was also honored by Mayor McLeod. Illian received the Great Citizen Award in recognition of her dedicated service to the Library, especially highlighting her advocacy for library services to Hoffman Estates residents during her tenure.

In October 1980, voters overwhelmingly approved the proposal to annex five Hoffman Estates subdivisions into the Palatine Public Library District. For nearly 30 years, the North Hoffman Branch was located on Freeman Road, prior to its current location. In 2011, The North Hoffman Branch opened in the Willow Recreation Center of the Hoffman Estates Park District at 3600 Lexington Drive. The Main Library is located at 700 N. North Court in Palatine. There is also a branch library located within the Community Resource Center at 1585 Rand Road in Palatine. The Library serves approximately 90,000 residents within these communities.
