Register for mental health family education class

Registration for Family to Family Education Class continues through July 1.

National Alliance on Mental Illness Kane-south, DeKalb and Kendall Counties sponsors this class that starts from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 11, in DeKalb for six consecutive Saturdays.

Classes are provided for family members, friends and significant others of individuals living with major depression, bipolar disorder-manic depression, schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder, panic disorder and obsessive, compulsive disorder, co-occurring brain disorders and addictive disorders.

Classes are structured to help caregivers understand and support individuals with serious mental illness while maintaining their own well-being.

These courses are taught by trained NAMI volunteers and there is no cost to participate. Topics that will be covered include brain biology, symptoms and subtypes, problem solving and self care.

Family to Family classes are free for friends, family members, and significant others of adults with mental illness.
