Ronald F. Wittmeyer, Jr. Sworn in as Northwest Suburban Bar Assoicaiton President

Northwest Suburban Bar Association Installation Dinner, Ronald F. Wittmeyer, Jr. Takes Reins as President

The Northwest Suburban Bar Association (NWSBA) celebrated another year of success at its' annual Installation Dinner, June 16th, to swear in new Officers and Board of Governors for 2015/2016. Ronald F. Wittmeyer, Jr. was sworn in as President by Hon. Judge William O. Maki, President Judge, Third Municipal District of the Circuit Court of Cook County at Rolling Green Country Club, Arlington Heights, Illinois.

The other officers that took the reins for the 2015/2016 year included Nichole M. Waltz, First Vice President; Jay A. Andrew, Second Vice President; Michael Rothmann, Treasurer and Miriam Cooper, Secretary.

Judge Maki also installed the new Board of Governors for 2015 - 2018: Gary Newland, Nicholas Richardson and Lance Ziebell. Michael J. Moran is the Association Attorney and Matthew L. Hess Parliamentarian, both for the next year.

Lee DeWald emcee'd the evening's event, and encouraged all of the members to take advantage of their fellow associates. "We are an organization that takes care of its own, and there is nothing better than running into a fellow NWSBA member out in the world."

William F. Kelley, outgoing President, was thanked by Wittmeyer for his dedication to the organization. "Bill was a major contributor to the NWSBA, and has led by example," said Wittmeyer.

After his installation, Wittmeyer announced his plans for continued success of the NWSBA. "The role of a great bar association is to provide quality CLE programs, and to create a professional community. I want to thank the substantive committee leaders for stepping up, and encourage everyone to become more involved with the Association." He also thanked all of the Pro Bono attorneys that have contributed over 500 hours per year to the NWSBA and the Third District Courthouse programs.

Michael J. Lightfoot received the President's Award for Excellence in Technology for his tireless work to revamp the technology systems of the Association. "This project started out slowly, but has made up for it in the last few years. I could not have done this without the support of Julie Barth, Executive Director of the NWSBA," said Lightfoot.

Howard Bernstein, Schwartz, Wolf & Bernstein, was awarded the President's Award for Excellence in Continuing Legal Education. Howard has been instrumental in helping the NWSBA fulfill its role to deliver quality CLE to its members by presenting substantive law updates at the annual Matrimonial Law seminars for over 25 years, as well as, authoring articles for Newsbriefs for 37 years.

The President's award for Distinguished Public Service, was presented to The Hon. William O. Maki for the exemplary standard he sets in the Third Municipal District court, as well as his many years of public service.

"If Don Norman were here, (one of the original founders of the NWSBA that recently passed away) he would have been proud to see how much this organization as evolved. The NWSBA serves as a tribute to those that serve the legal profession in the Northwest Suburbs," said Maki.

Wittmeyer ended the evening by saying "I am excited about the opportunity to serve as President of the NWSBA this coming year. So please engage with the NWSBA, and in the process, I think you will benefit from your efforts, and make some good friends along the way."
