Electrical fire damages Carpentersville building

No injuries were reported in an electrical fire that caused about $150,000 in damage to a Carpentersville manufacturing building Monday, authorities said.

Firefighters responded about 6:30 a.m. to 400 Maple Avenue. The fire was put out in about 15 minutes, Battalion Chief Robert Beattie said.

The fire involved high voltage wires, so ComEd disconnected the building's power. Cross Container and Faithwalk Harvest Center, two businesses within the building, are still without power and will remain closed until electrical repairs are completed, Beattie said. A third business, Advanced Polymer, was reopened about 10 a.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, authorities said.

Also assisting with the fire were the East Dundee, Rutland-Dundee, Algonquin-Lake in the Hills, Barrington Countryside and Palatine Rural fire protection districts, as well as the Barrington, Hoffman Estates, Elgin and West Dundee fire departments.
