Chicago man pleads guilty to pimping after sheriff's sting

A Chicago man arrested at O'Hare International Airport in January and charged with pimping has pleaded guilty.

In exchange for his guilty plea Friday to promoting prostitution, Jim Sacluti, 38, was sentenced to 24 months' probation and ordered to pay $649 in fines, according to court records.

Cook County sheriff's police arrested Sacluti as part of a sting that began in April 2013 with an undercover officer posting an ad on an online hookup site. Prosecutors say Sacluti responded and invited the undercover officer to work for him, telling her he had been making his living as a pimp for 17 years, prosecutors said.

The undercover officer agreed. On May 5, 2013, a second undercover sheriff's officer contacted Sacluti to obtain an escort and arranged to meet the female undercover officer at an Arlington Heights hotel, according to authorities.

Police attempted to arrest Sacluti, but authorities say he eluded them and fled to the Philippines.

A judge issued a warrant for Sacluti's arrest, which authorities executed Jan. 9 at O'Hare while Sacluti was awaiting a flight to Tokyo.
