Libertyville area teams advance to 2015 US Youth Soccer Region II Championships

By winning the US Youth Soccer Illinois State Championships, four Libertyville area soccer teams have qualified to compete in the 2015 US Youth Soccer Region II (Midwest) Championships.

• Under-13 Boys: Chicago Magic PSG in Highland Park

• Under-15 Boys: Libertyville FC 1974 in

Libertyville

• Under-17 Boys: Chicago Magic PSG Preacademy in Highland Park

• Under-13 Girls: Lake Forest in Lake Bluff

The attending teams will be among the 214 top US Youth Soccer Boys and Girls teams from the 14 US Youth Soccer State Associations competing for the regional title, June 20-24 at the US Youth Soccer Region II Championships at USA Youth Sports Complex and Southwest Park in Fox Cities, Wis. Daily reports and complete results from the tournament will be available on Championships.USYouthSoccer.org/RegionII.

The Region II Championships will feature top teams in the Under-13 through Under-19 age groups. Round robin games will take place Saturday, June 20 through Monday, June 22. Semifinal matches will follow on Tuesday, June 23. The Region II Champions will be crowned following final games on Wednesday, June 24.

US Youth Soccer State Cup champions and select runners-up from 14 State Associations in Region II, including host Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association will participate. The other State Associations represented are Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio North, Ohio South and South Dakota.

Regional winners of the Under-13 through Under-19 age groups earn a berth to the 2015 US Youth Soccer National Championships, held July 20-26 at the Mohawk Soccer Complex in Tulsa, Okla. One of the 14 national crowns awarded is the James P. McGuire Cup, the oldest trophy in youth sport dating back to 1935 with the inaugural youth championships.

The dates and locations for the 2015 US Youth Soccer Regional Championships and the 2015 US Youth Soccer National Championships are as follows:

• 2015 US Youth Soccer Region I Championships in Barboursville, W.Va.: Barboursville Soccer Complex and Scott Orthopedic Soccer Complex; Opening Ceremony: June 25, Round Robin: June 26-28, Semis: June 29, and Finals: June 30.

• 2015 US Youth Soccer Region II Championships in Fox Cities, Wis.: USA Youth Sports Complex and Southwest Park; Registration: June 19, Round Robin: June 20-22, Semis: June 23, and Finals: June 24.

• 2015 US Youth Soccer Region III Championships in North Little Rock, Ark.: Burns Park Soccer Complex; Opening Ceremony: June 18; Round Robin: June 19-21; Quarters: June 22 (U14, U15, U16); Semis/Quarters: June 23 (Semifinals U13 & U19/ Quarters U17 & U18); Finals/Semis: June 24 (Finals U13 & U19/ Semis U14-U18); and Finals: June 25 (Finals U14-U18).

• 2015 US Youth Soccer Region IV Championships in Boise, Idaho: Simplot Sports Complex, Round Robin: June 22-24; Quarters: June 26; Semis: June 27; Finals: June 28.

• 2015 US Youth Soccer National Championships in Tulsa, Okla.: Mohawk Soccer Complex; Player Luncheon: July 20; Round Robin: July 21-23; Semis: July 25 (U14-U18); and Finals: July 25 (U13 & U19); July 26 (U14-U18).
